Joostenberg Estate Chenin Blanc Noble Late Harvest
2017This wine has become one of our most popular and recognized wines and a huge amount of effort, both in the vineyard and the winery, is put into it every year. It is very dependent on weather conditions and this means that the volume produced and the characteristics of the wine vary greatly from year to year.

Joostenberg Estate “Die Agteros” Chenin Blanc
2019Our oldest Chenin Blanc vineyard was used to make this wine. It was planted in 1982 and for the first 20 years its fruit was sent to the local co-op and used for rather modest dry white blends. To be honest it’s an ugly, gnarly looking vineyard and year after year we contemplated its removal, but as soon as we started making our own wine on the farm we recognized its quality. We now care for this vineyard lovingly every year. The name is derived from the Afrikaans saying “die agteros kom ook in die kraal” (the hind ox also gets there)…..the vineyard took a long time to prove itself and now it’s our favourite vineyard.

Joostenberg Estate Bakermat

Joostenberg Estate Fairhead
2019Every year we make a small batch of white wine named after Joostenberg’s current matriarch and gardener extraordinaire, Gillian Fairhead. This wine honours the women of Joostenberg whose substantial efforts, in a male dominated society, have often been unrecognized. The core of the wine is old vine Chenin Blanc and the blending partners are the more exotic Roussanne and Viognier varietals.
